Darkness Fell Upon the Land (Matthew 27:45)

The Veil of the Temple was Torn in Two (Matthew 27:51)
- Veil separated holy place from the most holy place (Exodus 26:33)
- Inside the veil — presence of God (Exodus 25:21-22)
- Jesus is our high priest (Hebrews 3:1) — went beyond the veil into the presence of God (Hebrews 9:24)
- We have access through Christ (Hebrews 4:14-16)
The Tombs Were Opened (Matthew 27:51-53)
- Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25)
- He conquered death so that we could also overcome death (Hebrews 2:14-15)
- Jesus will raise all those who conform to His death (Romans 6:3-5)
Conclusion
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6) — these events showed that
- The way — into heaven, into the presence of God
- The truth — He is the light of the world (John 8:12), showing us the truth (John 18:37; Psalm 119:105)
- The life — hope of the resurrection to eternal life
