Text: Acts 20:27
Is It Important What We Believe?
- NT teaches the importance of faith (Hebrews 11:6)
- Faith comes from the word of God (Romans 10:17)
- God revealed what He wants us to know (1 Corinthians 2:10-13)
- God’s word is true (John 17:17) — we must believe it (all of it)
Should We Preach/Teach on Matters of Doctrine?
- We can keep ourselves busy preaching/teaching on other themes — some preachers do
- But we cannot rightfully ignore certain passages or subjects (1 Peter 4:11; Acts 20:27)
What If It Doesn’t Lead to Sin?
- We must still preach the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27)
- Are we sure it doesn’t lead to sin? … Any error can lead to sin
- Is this just the “slippery slope” argument? … No — emphasizing the need to believe what the Bible says is not a slippery slope
