Text: Joshua 6
Follow God’s Instructions (v. 3-5)
- Begins with faith (v. 2) – God had already given the people the city
- God’s instructions are simple – easy to understand (Ephesians 3:4) and carry out (1 John 5:3)
- God’s instructions are unconventional – different than man’s solutions, but God’s way is always best (Isaiah 55:8-9)
- By human reasoning, God’s way is foolish (1 Corinthians 1:18)
Salvation is Open to All
- The Jews were God’s chosen people (Deuteronomy 7:6), yet Rahab was saved by faith (Joshua 2:9-11; Hebrews 11:31)
- Salvation was only in her house (Joshua 2:17-19) – salvation today is only in the body of Christ (Ephesians 5:23)
- Those who are saved must continue in obedience – Rahab continued with Israel (Joshua 6:25), but was bound to follow God’s law (Numbers 15:15-16)
