Praising the Lord Around the Throne

Text: Revelation 4-5

Revelation 4-5 describes a scene around the throne in heaven in which the Lord is receiving praise. With everything that He is and that He has done that is worthy of praise, the vision that John saw emphasized three reasons why the Lord was worthy of the praise He was receiving.

Creation (Revelation 4:11)

  • Our existence did not come about by some accident – it was the Lord’s will
  • The creation shows us His authority & preeminence (Colossians 1:15-18)

Sacrifice of Christ (Revelation 5:12-13)

  • His sacrifice demonstrates the love of God (John 3:16; Romans 5:8)
  • His sacrifice makes forgiveness possible (John 1:29; Ephesians 1:7)

Establishment of the Church (Revelation 5:9-10)

  • Purchased with His blood (Acts 20:28)
  • Open to men of every nation (Isaiah 2:2-3)

  • How can we be part of this number around the throne in heaven? … we must wash our robes & keep His commandments (Revelation 22:12-15)
  • So the invitation is extended (Revelation 22:17)
