Psalm 23 and the Christian

Text: Psalm 23

  • The Lord leads us to a life of obedience (1 Peter 2:21-22; 1:2)

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me” (v. 4)

  • Those who follow the Lord will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12)
  • But we must not fear (1 Peter 3:13-14; Matthew 10:28)

“Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (v. 4)

  • As we put our trust in the Lord, we can enjoy the peace of God (Philippians 4:6-7)
  • We can find comfort in His promises (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows” (v. 5)

  • Even though we are surrounded by enemies, the Lord will be with us and bless us (Romans 8:31-39)
